EQ, and Positive Behaviour
What are they, and why are they so important?
EQ
EQ, or emotional intelligence, is often misunderstood. Many people think it is about becoming "more emotional", where as in fact, it is about "emotional control".
Our emotions, triggered by events in our lives, our backgrounds, our environments - can often derail us, especially during the times that we need to be the best version of ourselves, or in "peak state".
Developing your EQ helps you take the drivers seat with your emotions, and remain calm in the face of adversity. It helps you understand why you feel like you are, and actively address it, so that in any given situation, the very best version of you can turn up. For your loved ones, for the organisations you represent, and for yourselves.
Self mastery of EQ doesn't happen overnight, it requires a lifelong commitment in following and practicing the core skills, but very quickly you will find that greater control over your emotional state will drastically enhance your quality of life in all areas...
finix embeds these skillsets in participants, and EQ development lays at the core of what we do.
By enhancing outcomes at an individual level, the exponential benefits that organisations will see from the people in their teams, will continue to give compound returns over time.
Mindfulness, and Transactional Analysis
Mindfulness, is simply the skill of being aware of yourself and what is going on for you, especially in the context of the present moment. Mindfulness techniques are extremely powerful, and help you take control of your conscious state. Building emotional intelligence/EQ, is grounded in mindfulness, and we practice self observation, in all of our learning and development programmes, to ensure we are aware of ourselves, and also what is going on for others around us. This kind of awareness in EQ development is absolutely vital, and has real world application and impact. As well as improved wellbeing for the individuals, the residual effect it will have on others in their team, the wider organisation, and families / friends, cannot be underestimated.
Transactional Analysis is different, in that this is the practice of understanding our transactions/communication, and relationships with others, and like PBS (more information below), by understanding ourselves better, and how events in our lives (especially earlier life events) have impacted us, helps us begin to not only understand them, but by being aware of them, we can better actively manage our present state, and become the best versions of ourselves, which has a positive impact not just for us, but all around us.

Positive Behaviour
When we talk about positive behaviour approaches, we are in fact talking about a lot of different things. The end product of all of these approaches however, is to help team members and organisations understand why we sometimes act against our own interests, and more importantly - what we can do about it to enhance our quality of life, wellbeing, and organisational outcomes.
Here are some of the many approaches we use as part of our approach;
Positive Behaviour Support
Commonly known as PBS, this is a model of support typically used to support people with learning disabilities, and/or Autism, in the United Kingdom. In various other countries however, PBS often has a far wider application. The primary motive of PBS should ALWAYS be focussed on improving quality of life for people, by understanding the "functions" of behaviour that each behaviour serves, and then replacing any negative behaviours that don't serve us, with more productive and positive ones. The use of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), which is the scientific method behind understanding behaviours, is often used with PBS, and again, the application of ABA can have fantastic impacts on organisations, from understanding and promoting more healthy organisational behaviours at a micro level, or moving into traditional OBM at a macro level. ABA can help you understand, map, track, and implement interventions to get you and your organisation where you need to be.
Neuro Linguistic Programming
What is commonly referred to as NLP, this is an approach that understands that Neural (brain) processes are intrinsically linked to linguistics (what we say to ourselves and others, and also non verbal communication as well), and as such these elements influence and determine our internal programming (our behavioural patterns). NLP has shown numerous and amazing application in the real world, and has been used to great effect in various business sectors, and high performance sports. Many of the core techniques we use, especially when embedding knowledge in your team members during our "immersive experiences", have a core grounding in NLP.
Growth Mindset
The groundbreaking research by Dr Carol Dweck around Growth Mindset, has helped many organisations and individuals push beyond what was previously thought possible. With practical application in every day life and business, growth mindset instils a way of being which aims to reduce blame and take control of your own agency (blame gives away power/agency, so by taking individual accountability and supporting a non blame culture in their organisation, the individual becomes more powerful and in control, and the team members they work with become more open to positive risk, innovation, and improvement cycles).
Growth mindset supports organisations to create safe cultures where failure is not only tolerated, but actively encouraged!
Failure, and growth through failure by adopting rapid learning/improvement cycles, is a core part of building a growth mindset focussed organisation. By pushing beyond their boundaries and iteratively learning as they continually develop, your team members will deliver outcomes that were previously unthinkable.
